Understanding Overactive Bladder (OAB) Frequent, sudden, and difficult-to-control urges to urinate

Overactive Bladder (OAB) is a challenging condition that prompts frequent, sudden, and often uncontrollable urges to urinate, even when the bladder isn’t full. This condition can lead to an overwhelming sensation of needing to pee multiple times throughout the day and night, sometimes resulting in unintentional urine loss.

Symptoms of Overactive Bladder:
  • Sudden, Urgent Urge: An abrupt, compelling urge to urinate that is challenging to manage.
  • Frequent Urination: Typically, individuals with OAB may need to urinate more than eight times within a 24-hour period.
  • Unintended Leakage: Involuntary urine loss often occurs immediately after the sudden urge to urinate or during nighttime awakenings.
  • Nocturia: Waking up multiple times during the night to urinate.
  • Difficulty Controlling Urges: Experiencing a strong, urgent need to urinate with difficulty reaching the restroom in time.
  • Triggered Responses: Feeling the urge to urinate in response to stimuli like the sound of running water or spontaneously.
